Workplace violence prevention is a shared responsibility, and staying informed and prepared is key to maintaining a safe work environment for everyone. In this Bigger Brain’s course, you’ll learn the key components of section 6401.9 of California’s Labor Code as mandated by CA SB553 and what it means practically for employees in California. You’ll learn to differentiate among four main types of workplace violence and how to identify behaviors that could potentially lead to a workplace violence incident.

Knowing what to do after an incident is important, and you’ll learn post-incident protocols to follow, reporting procedures, and steps for accessing and retaining records. You’ll have the information you need to develop an effective Workplace Violence Prevention Plan, comply with the law, and find additional information and resources.

While this course provides initial training on both the law and workplace violence, this course must also be supplemented with an opportunity for interactive questions and answers with a person knowledgeable about the employer’s plan along with material specific to the employer’s workplace plan. Please consult with your employer.
